Mojácar’s Kontiki Beach Restaurant First Prize for Marine Gastronomic Innovation 2023

The Kontiki beach restaurant in Mojácar has been recognized with the prestigious Marine Gastronomic Innovation award at the 2023 Sun&Blue Congress, held in Almería. This inaugural edition of the congress focused on highlighting projects that excel in promoting cuisine based on marine and sustainable products, aligning with the principles of “Blue Tourism” that prioritize ocean sustainability and conservation.

Adrián Sampere, CEO and co-founder of Kontiki beach restaurant, expressed gratitude for the award and emphasized the role of Almería as a region blessed with exceptional gastronomic resources. He highlighted the quality of local produce, both from the land and sea, which allows for the creation of unique flavors in their kitchens, emphasizing the use of “Km0” products.

Sampere’s recognition at the Sun&Blue Congress was celebrated by Mojácar Mayor Francisco García Cerdá and Tourism Councillor María Gracia Alarcón, who commended his contribution to promoting the gastronomy of the region. Sampere expressed pride in representing Mojácar in such an important event dedicated to blue tourism, emphasizing the significance of showcasing the culinary richness of the area.

In addition to the Kontiki beach restaurant, Sampere also operates the prestigious Arcilla restaurant in the Macenas Resort complex, offering excellent cuisine with a focus on sustainability and innovation in a breathtaking seaside setting.

The Sun&Blue Congress brought together renowned chefs with Michelin Green Stars and over 150 national and international experts to discuss the transformative role of gastronomy in shaping tourism experiences and destination choices. As Europe’s premier Blue Tourism congress, it aims to serve as an annual platform for showcasing innovation in this sector and fostering collaboration among industry leaders worldwide.
