Vera Will Reopen the “Cuatro Caños Car Park”, Enabling 424 New Parking Spaces.

The current Government Team of Vera has proposed a solution to the parking problem in the urban area by utilizing the “Parking de Los Cuatro Caños,” which has been closed and unused for over a decade. The municipality has initiated works to repair the deteriorated infrastructure and adapt the facilities to current regulations, enabling the creation of 424 parking spaces across two basement floors.

In May 2006, the company URBAMED was awarded the exploitation rights of the parking lot, later assumed by Parking Vera, a company created by URBAMED for its management. However, in 2012, the company abandoned the management citing low profitability, leading to the closure of the parking.

The parking remained closed for the past 10 years until the Vera City Council acquired the facility for €285,000 from an investment fund that had taken ownership after the previous managing companies ceased operations. According to the Finance Councilor, Alfonso Perez Redondo, this acquisition was a successful financial operation, negotiating the outstanding loan, interest, and late payment costs, which amounted to about €2.5 million, in favor of the municipal coffers.

Mayor Alfonso García Ramos stated that this action is part of the municipality’s project to provide over 500 parking spaces, enhancing the welfare, services, and quality of life for residents accessing the historic center of Vera more conveniently. The Mayor highlighted the creation of 150 public parking spaces near the Blas Infante Pavilion and Municipal Indoor Pool, specifically in Bajada de San Ramón and Avenida Andalucía streets, along with the new parking on Almería street.
