Mojacar at Last Celebrates Its Night of the Candles on the 30th
After its unfortunate cancellation due to the “Dana” storm, Mojácar eagerly anticipates the long-awaited “Night of the Candles 2023” on September 30th. This magical event, organized by Mojácar Council and the Mojácar Pueblo Traders Association, transforms the municipality into a mesmerizing spectacle under the starlit sky.
With the entire old town illuminated solely by the soft glow of 8,000 candles, Mojácar radiates an enchanting ambiance unlike any other. Residents and traders alike contribute to the magical atmosphere by strategically placing torches and candles throughout their homes and establishments, creating a breathtaking scene that captivates all who visit.
To enhance the experience, visitors are encouraged to dress in white, adding to the ethereal “staging” that complements the meticulously decorated streets of Mojácar. Telescopes will be available at the Castle Viewpoint for astronomy enthusiasts to explore the wonders of Mojácar’s night sky, guided by a knowledgeable professional.
Throughout the evening, intimate concerts will take place in various squares of the old town, featuring talented musicians such as Antonio Lucas on piano, Aitor Gómez on saxophone, and Ashley Cathcart on guitar and vocals. Additionally, a captivating batucada will roam the streets, adding to the lively atmosphere.
For convenience, visitors are advised to use the provided bus service, with round trip tickets available at designated locations. Alternatively, taxis offer a convenient transportation option, as private vehicles will not be allowed access to Mojácar village during the event.
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the unique ambiance of Mojácar under the glow of thousands of candles, accompanied by music and the twinkling stars above, at the highly anticipated “Night of the Candles.”
