Mojácar Council’s Sports Department, in collaboration with the Almería Provincial Council’s Multiaventura program, organized a captivating visit to the Sorbas caves, drawing together families and residents of the town for an enriching experience.

Surpassing expectations, 52 residents, led by Sports Councillor Jesús Montoya Gredilla, embarked on the first of a series of excursions to explore the province’s iconic locations and discover their hidden treasures.

The chosen destination for this inaugural trip was the Sorbas caves, a protected area under the auspices of the Environment Regional Ministry’s Provincial Delegation. From six-year-olds to adults, the group embarked on their adventure from the Visitor Centre, where they received insights into the caves’ geological wonders, situated within the ancient Karst en Yesos natural landscape, boasting the largest underground system in Spain.

Guided by the expertise of the centre’s professionals, the visitors delved into the caves’ intricate pathways, marveling at the unique natural formations that grace the underground chambers. The excursion proved to be both educational and exhilarating, providing families and friends with a memorable day of exploration.

As Jesús Montoya emphasized, there are more adventures on the horizon, as they seize the opportunity to uncover the myriad hidden gems scattered throughout the province, waiting to be discovered by eager explorers.
