Mojácar Council Reaffirms Its Commitment to the Fight Against Gender Violence

On the International Day Against Gender Violence, Mojácar Mayor Francisco García Cerdá, along with the municipal corporation, organized a public event in Plaza del Ayuntamiento. The event featured the reading of a manifesto condemning gender violence and reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to combatting it.

During the reading, Mayor Francisco García Cerdá emphasized Mojácar Council’s stance against all forms of gender violence and expressed solidarity with victims and their families. He called on the community to unite in defending equality as a fundamental principle against gender violence.

The manifesto also outlined Mojácar Council’s personal commitment to fighting violence by supporting victims, reporting assaults, and promoting education for future generations on gender equality.

Members of the Mojácar Local Police, including the officer responsible for the Gender Violence Unit, attended the event. The Mojácar Local Police has been actively involved in combating gender violence since 2007, pioneering efforts to provide protection to victims. They have worked in collaboration with the Civil Guard and, since 2013, have managed the protection of victims independently, making extraordinary efforts in this regard.

Following the manifesto reading, a minute of silence was observed to honor the memory of female victims of gender violence, underscoring the importance of remembering and acknowledging the lives lost to this pervasive social issue.
