Mayor of Mojácar Attends the Events Organised by the Civil Guard in Honour of Their Patron Saint

The Civil Guard celebrated Hispanic Day on the 12th of October with their traditional mass in honour of Our Lady of the Pillar, the patron saint of this State Security Force.

As in previous years, the celebration was held in Garrucha’s San Joaquín Parish Church, officiated by the parish priest, José María Parra, and attended by the region’s civil and military authorities.

The Mojácar Mayor, Rosa María Cano, attended as she does every year, accompanied by the heads of the locality’s Local Police. The Mayor of Garrucha, María López Cervantes, was also there.

One of the most emotional moments of the celebration was the offering of a crown of laurels to Our Lady of the Pillar by two members of the Guardia Civil on behalf of all their colleagues, in recognition of and as a tribute to those who have fallen in the line of duty.

The mass was attended by the Lieutenant Chief of the Territory Main Post, Ángel García García, as well as the corresponding commanders of the different areas of the Guardia Civil providing services in the zone.

The commanders of the Mojácar and Garrucha Local Police, the Levante Almeriense Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium, Civil Protection and numerous other civil and legal authorities were also present.
