Eva Almaya Guest of Honour at the 2nd City of Mojácar Short Film Competition
Almería actress Eva Almaya, guest of honour at the 2nd “City of Mojácar” Short Film Competition, was received by Mojácar Mayor Rosa María Cano at the Town Hall and signed the local authority’s book of honour.
In the affectionate words that Eva Almaya wanted to record in the local council’s book of honour, she highlighted her gratitude for the opportunity to relive many memories of so many summers spent in Mojácar, and where she was “very happy”.
Eva Almaya, trained at the Cristina Rota Acting School, has despite her youth a professional career as an actress of more than 20 years, both in cinema and television. Among her extensive work are well-known series such as “Cuéntame”, “Águila Roja”, “Lope Enamorado”, “Arrayán”, and many others that have filled her career with major successes and made her a much-loved actress, not only among the Almería public.
Now, in addition to her acting work, she has extended her activity with the creation of her own production company, “Veramaya Producciones”, based in Almería.
Veramaya Producciones is developing several projects, among them the full-length fiction film “Nana”, by Liteo Pedregal, the series “Dragonas”, which is an adaptation of an original Israeli series, and the theatrical production “Juana”, on tour throughout Spain.
Eva Almaya made the most of her visit to Mojácar to carry out an affectionate scouting through the most emblematic places of the municipality’s old town.
Her presence at the 2nd “City of Mojácar” Short Film Competition was yet another attraction at this important cinematographic event in Almería, that once again made the locality the focus of this industry in the province.
The first day, one of the two planned in the programme, began in the morning with a tour around the CEIP and IES education centres, which became part of the competition through chats about the cinema industry today and a workshop in which there was a simulation of the filming of a movie scene.
In the afternoon, the inaugural gala at the Multi-Uses Centres brought together representatives from the Almería cinematographic world, as well as authors, actors from the competition’s short films and a large audience.
Competition director Antonio Casado spoke at the presentation, thanking the Andalucía government, the Almería Provincial Council and Mojácar Council for the support received to make it possible to bring about this initiative, a cultural offer “with selfless origins”, and that has its continuity thanks to the good reception of the previous edition, as well as to the sponsors and collaborators, who have given their support for this event, and the people of Mojácar, connoisseurs and fans of cinema.For her part, the Mojácar Mayor confirmed the support of the local council for the continuity of this competition and the interest that, as has happened with only two editions, it makes Mojácar a reference point for directors and producers.
