Mojácar Red Cross Delivers a Plaque to the Mayor of Mojácar.

Concepción Rivero Puche, President of the Mojácar Assembly of the Spanish Red Cross, has on behalf of the Association she represents, presented the Mayor Rosa María Cano with a plaque of thanks for the work and collaboration, which extends as much to the top councillor as to the government team she leads.

With a simple and touching inscription: “Thanks for being by our side”, it sums up “all the support and all the fight for the public, as much as in the pandemic as in the different humanitarian crisis, whether economic or with the Ukrainian refugees”, affirms Concepción Rivero.

The Mójácar Assembly President emphasized that Rosa María Cano was the first Mayor who called her to offer her help with the health crisis, “when we were all overwhelmed and without knowing very well what to do.”

The preventative measures decreed by the pandemic left many families in a situation of vulnerability and social emergency. The extension of the closure or restrictions on business did not improve this circumstance, and then, more than ever, the solidarity of everyone was necessary.

The work of the Local Council in Mojácar municipality was intense from the beginning of the health crisis. An essential activity for many families who found themselves very affected by the economic crisis parallel to the health crisis.

The Mojácar Red Cross Assembly thanks the locality’s Local Council for its considerable financial support through a collaboration agreement signed by both, one among many other actions.

The “profound thanks” of the Red Cross to the Mayor, Rosa María Cano, who within the scope of her responsibilities, gave an effective and quick response to the needs of the people of the municipality in a situation of vulnerability, providing coverage mainly of basic, social and health needs, both to families and in cases of social emergency, with the aim of contributing to improving the well-being of its local residents.

Among the recipients of this Collaboration Agreement were people affected by the isolation and the lockdown: the elderly, disabled, people with a chronic illness and without a family support network; those affected by temporary regulation of employment proceedings and loss of employment; people in a situation of chronic poverty who were unable to obtain financial resources of any kind, energy poverty; people and families in a situation of difficulty with minors or people dependent on them and the homeless.

Mojácar Council always collaborates on all Red Cross initiatives, activities and needs, whether in relation to the environment, cooking courses, workshops, the giving out of food, etc., hence the Mojácar Assembly wants to thank them with a plaque on which they have put all their affection and recognition.
