Lorenzo Silva Will Present His Latest Work “púa” in Mojácar

Lorenzo Silva, the acclaimed Spanish writer, will be visiting Mojácar on Wednesday, November 15th, to introduce his latest book, “Púa”. The presentation will take place at 7:30 pm in the Multi-uses Centre, where attendees will have the opportunity to engage in discussions with Silva and have their copies of his works signed. Admission to the event is free.

This event is part of the “Mojácar, Literary Space” series organized by the Local Council’s Culture Department, which aims to bring some of the most prominent Spanish-speaking writers to the town.

Silva, a recipient of numerous literary awards, including the Nadal Prize (which he has won twice), the Planeta Award, and the Grand Cross of the Order of the Second of May, is widely recognized for his novels. He is particularly known for his series featuring the Civil Guard duo, Sergeant Bevilacqua and Agent Chamorro, which has earned him the title of Honorary Civil Guard. One of his novels, “La flaqueza del Bolshevik” (The Weakness of the Bolshevik), was a finalist for the Nadal Prize and was adapted into a film by director Manuel Martín Cuenca.

Previous editions of the “Mojácar Literary Space” series have featured visits from notable figures such as Carmen Mola (a pseudonym used by writers Jorge Díaz, Agustín Martinez, and Antonio Mercero, who won the Planeta Prize in 2021) and Julia Navarro, a bestselling author whose works have been published in over 30 countries.

The success and large attendance at these presentations underscore the municipality’s and the region’s deep interest in and love for literature. Through this series, the Mojácar Council aims to foster a literary culture by providing opportunities for residents to meet and interact with some of Spain’s most influential contemporary authors.

The Council is currently finalizing dates for future presentations, ensuring that Mojácar remains a hub for Spanish literature in the region, enriching its cultural landscape and providing residents with access to the latest literary works and their creators.
