Mojacar Celebrates Its 38th Popular Race on an Excellent Day of Sport
With various categories available, including men’s and women’s divisions, the main race covered a route of 9,100 meters with a total ascent of 204 meters. Starting and finishing in Plaza Nueva, the course wound through the old town and down to the beach before returning to the starting point.
Juan Manuel Tejada, representing the Sur Este Athletics Club, claimed victory in the men’s general classification, winning the men’s veteran category with a time of 33.22 minutes. Gail Corville secured first place in the Women’s General category and the Female Veteran B division, completing the race in 41.26 minutes.
Other notable winners included Alejandra Bohorquez in the senior women’s category and Jesús Hernández in the senior men’s division. Remedios Martínez and Juan Manuel Tejada triumphed in the female veteran A and male veteran categories, respectively. Shirrlem Bahl and Pedro Jesús Valdivia emerged as the victors in the category B veterans.
The trophies, provided by Mojácar City Council, were presented by the sports councillor, Jesús Montoya Gredila, who expressed satisfaction with the high level of participation and performance displayed by the runners. The event was well-organized, with thorough supervision by the organizers and local police ensuring safety throughout the race.
Younger participants were also recognized for their efforts, receiving medals for their participation and demonstrating their enthusiasm for running. This successful event left many eager for the next edition, ensuring a bright future for running in Mojácar.
