Mojácar Council Allocates the Departments of the New Corporation

Mojácar Council held its first extraordinary plenary session, on an extraordinary basis, since the new corporation was established on the 7th of July following the 28th of May local elections. The agenda included the composition of the political groups and the designation of the corresponding spokespeople, with Rosa María Cano appointed spokesperson for the Popular Party and María del Mar Marín for the Socialist Party. Rosa María Cano will serve as First Deputy Mayor, followed by Noemí Linares as Second Deputy Mayor. Jesús Montoya and María Gracia Alarcón will be the third and fourth Deputy Mayors, respectively.

The Mojácar Council Local Government Board, which is responsible for providing assistance and advice to the mayor’s office, is composed of the Mojácar Mayor, Francisco García Cerdá, who will preside, along with the councillors Rosa María Cano, Noemí Linares, Jesús Montoya, and María Gracia Alarcón. Among its many powers, the government board is responsible for economic management in accordance with the approved budget, arranging expenditure within its responsibility limits, approving public employment offers and staff, managing urban projects, granting licenses, enforcing compliance with Local Council agreements, and other duties assigned by laws specific to the municipality.

The general delegation of responsibilities for the management of their respective areas of action was approved as follows: Rosa María Cano Montoya as Councillor Attached to the Mayor’s Office, Social Services, Cleaning, Gardening, and Cemetery; Noemi Linares Ortiz as Councillor for Culture, Childhood, Education, Finance, and Subsidies; Jesús Antonio Montoya Gredilla as Councillor for Festivities, Sport, Youth, and Civil Protection; María Gracia Alarcón García as Councillor for Tourism, Transport, Contracting, Commerce, and New Technology; Sergio Alonso Soler as Councillor for Works, Heritage, Environment, and Land Registry; Ana María García Fernández as Councillor for Health, the Elderly, and Parks; and María Luisa Pérez López as Councillor for Relations with Foreigners and Citizen Engagement.

Additionally, representatives of Mojácar were appointed to various organizations in which the municipality has powers. The Mayor, Francisco García Cerdá, will represent Mojácar on the Conservation Entities and Compensation Boards and on the Almería Levante Region Municipalities Association. María Gracia Alarcón will represent Mojácar on the Tourism Board, Rosa María Cano in the Almería Levante Region Firefighting and Rescue Consortium, and in GALASA. Jesús Montoya Gredilla will represent Mojácar in the Almanzora Levante Consortium, while Noemí Linares will serve on the school councils of the Bartolomé Flores infant and junior school and the Rey Alabez secondary school, with Sergio Alonso as the representative on PRODER.
