The Junta Inaugurates the Mojácar Bus Station and Transfers Its Management to the Local Council

The inauguration of Mojácar’s new bus station marks a significant milestone in the municipality’s transportation infrastructure. With an investment of over 600,000 euros from the Junta de Andalucia, this modern transport interchange is poised to enhance the mobility options for residents and visitors alike.

The Regional Minister of Development, Territory Planning and Housing, Rocío Díaz, emphasized the importance of addressing historical deficiencies in public transportation with the construction of this functional facility. She highlighted the collaborative effort between the Junta and the Local Council in making this project a reality, underscoring the commitment to promoting sustainable mobility through inter-modality.

The new bus station is strategically located on a municipally owned plot, offering convenient access and connectivity with Mojácar’s historic center, coastal developments, bypass, and major roadways. It features dedicated bays for intercity and urban buses, as well as a taxi rank, catering to the diverse transportation needs of residents and visitors.

Mojácar Mayor Francisco García expressed gratitude for the development of the interchange, which fills a crucial gap in the municipality’s transportation infrastructure. With Mojácar’s population swelling to 40,000 during the summer months, the new station is poised to accommodate the influx of travelers and improve the overall transportation experience.

The station’s design incorporates modern amenities, including an operations building with offices, lockers, and toilets, ensuring a comfortable waiting environment for users. Additionally, the waiting esplanade is equipped with a shaded area, enhancing the passenger experience.

The transfer of the facilities to the local authority signifies a new phase in the project, as the Local Council assumes responsibility for maintenance and management. As services are progressively put into operation, the bus station will further contribute to Mojácar’s reputation as a premier tourist destination.
