Mojacar Council Organises Awareness-raising Days on the Beaches of Mojácar Together With Its Lifeguards

Mojácar Council has organized a significant campaign in collaboration with the Tourism and Environment Departments to promote respect and proper use of the municipality’s beaches, coastline, and environment. As part of this initiative, awareness-raising days have been held on Mojácar’s beaches, coordinated by the local authority and the company responsible for beach monitoring during the 2023 summer season.

These awareness days primarily target children, although parents and adults are also encouraged to participate. Lifeguards demonstrated their duties, including first aid, beach maintenance, and enforcement of bathing rules. Children were educated on what steps to take in case of emergencies, emphasizing the importance of alerting professionals or calling 112, the emergency telephone number.

Various activities were organized during these awareness days, including drawing and recycling workshops, “lifeguard for a day” workshops, and waste collection activities. Participants were also rewarded with gifts and prizes.

Mojácar’s beaches are monitored by 38 lifeguards who ensure everyone’s safety. For the 2023 season, their daily work period has been extended until nearly the end of September, with weekend shifts continuing throughout October. The company “Cooperation 2005” has been responsible for beach monitoring, assistance, rescue, and first aid in Mojácar for five consecutive years.

According to the company’s managers, the bathing season in Mojácar has been calm and incident-free. They attribute this to increased respect for bathing rules among beachgoers, who are following the flags indicating sea conditions and lifeguards’ instructions.

Mojácar Council’s efforts to provide excellent services and amenities to its beaches contribute to making it an ideal destination for families and all types of summer vacationers.
